How to Make the Greenest Kale Smoothie Ever – Drink, Boost, Burn, Repeat
Drink, boost, burn and repeat sounds like the mantra of a highly motivated person because it is. Sticking to your health goals requires consistency, and sometimes there’s no better option than diving headfirst into the unknown. Don’t worry, I know green smoothies have gotten a bad rap for tasting awful, which is why I made sure to incorporate some fruits in this recipe. Fruits help add texture and flavor to smoothies without adding a ton of calories, unlike refined sugars and additives.
Drink, Boost, Burn, Repeat
We’re always in conversation with ourselves either saying that we should stop or keep fighting on. That’s one thing I have in common with everyone who has tried to lose weight before. It’s a constant battle between the angel and devil on your shoulder. Sometimes it helps to stick to a smoothie plan so that you’re not as easily tempted the next time you have a dozen donuts in front of you.
This recipe is so easy to prepare, I guarantee you’ll be able to fit it into your schedule. Simply slice all of your ingredients and throw them in a blender. Each has its own unique function, so make sure that everything’s there before you blend it all up!
First up, we have your greens: celery, spinach and kale. Kale has been proven time and time again to be one of the most nutritious vegetables around, containing plenty of essential vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and prebiotics. The same goes for spinach. The nutrient content helps fight the effects of free radical damage on the body, thereby preventing the development of chronic diseases. (1) Lastly, we add in some celery to act as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent, since celery seed extract has been shown in studies to help to protect against and/or reduce gastric irritation caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as well as act synergistically with them to reduce inflammation. Next, add in your lemon juice, banana, and apple. These three fruits contain a blend of essential vitamins and minerals that provide a steady stream of energy without causing unwanted sugar spikes and crashes. Plus, the frozen banana adds a smooth, creamy texture to this smoothie, which I’m sure you’ll appreciate especially if you have a sweet tooth like me.
