After a long, tiring and stressful day, the last thing some people want to do is cook for themselves or their families. Many find it more convenient to order take-out, make a quick stop at the nearest fast food establishment, or stock up on snacks at the grocery. It’s safe to say that we’re all guilty of doing these things from time to time but we also need to realize how these habits can negatively affect our health.
Say No to Fast Food
In the United States, fast food establishments are notorious for using trans fat to deep fry items on the menu. Trans fat is one of the key contributors to high cholesterol since it lowers good cholesterol (HDL) and raises bad cholesterol (LDL) which may lead to an increased risk of getting cardiovascular disease. Be mindful of what you’re buying at the grocery. A lot of the ready-to-eat food and snacks are filled with artificial ingredients and preservatives that may harm us if we continue to consume them regularly. (1)
We know we should be making better food choices but what’s really stopping us from doing so? The answer is very simple; time and convenience. What if I told you that you can make a healthy, delicious smoothie in as little as 3 minutes? The recipe consists of 6 easy-to-find ingredients and we guarantee that you’ll be blown away by the flavors. This peach smoothie is the perfect snack whenever you feel hungry and the best part is you can bring it wherever you go!
Make It Portable
One of the biggest reasons why we’re always buying snacks is because they’re easy to bring around. You can literally keep them in the glove compartment of your car, in the office snack cupboard, or simply just carry them in your pocket or bag. Nowadays, there are new products that allow us to bring food and drinks with ease. Here are two products that you should consider purchasing in order to bring your smoothie with you wherever you go.
The first is called a Blender Bottle. Blender Bottle is popular among gym goers since it comes with a small stainless steel Blender Ball which is helpful for mixing protein powders. It has a wide mouth and is dishwasher safe and BPA-free. Blender Bottles can be purchased in 3 different sizes: 20-ounce, 28-ounce and 32-ounce. For many, Blender Bottle is the go-to shaker because it’s very cheap, easy to clean, and lightweight. The cons of having a Blender Bottle is that it’s not insulated and accidentally dropping it may cause it to crack since it’s made of plastic. Purchase your own Blender Bottle.
If you want something a little sturdier, then you have to check out Klean Kanteen. Klean Kanteens are double-walled and made with 18/8 stainless steel which is excellent for food. It is also BPA-free and fits in most cup holders. The most amazing quality about Klean Kanteen is the insulation. With a Klean Kanteen, drinks will remain hot up to 6 hours and remain cold up to 18 hours. This is excellent for keeping your smoothies cold even if it’s left in a hot car. Make sure to check out their list of products because they come in many available sizes and colors.
