3-Ingredient Strawberry Smoothie (Simplest Recipe Ever)
In my mind, there’s nothing better than throwing just a few simple ingredients into a blender and then blending them together before enjoying a delicious and nutritious drink. That’s precisely why I love this 3-ingredient strawberry smoothie recipe so much because that’s exactly what you end up doing. Even though you’re only using three simple ingredients to make this recipe, it’s still a surprisingly nutritional smoothie. Offering a ton of protein, healthy fats, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, this quick and easy strawberry smoothie is definitely no slouch when it comes to nutrition.
Effortless & Delicious Are a Winning Combo
When making this quick and easy smoothie recipe, it all starts with the strawberries. You’ll be using one cup of frozen strawberries, which I find is the perfect amount for making good smoothies. You’ll actually end up with two smoothie servings when following this recipe, making it great for sharing or for saving one for later. One of the main reasons I love strawberries so much isn’t because of how yummy they are (and they’re certainly incredibly yummy) but because of how nutritious they are.
Countless studies have found that strawberries are good for reducing inflammation, preventing oxidative stress caused by harmful free radicals, protecting against certain types of cancers, and helping to prevent metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease. (1) It really is amazing how many great benefits strawberries can offer.
The second ingredient that goes into making this smoothie is one cup of vanilla flavored Greek yogurt. I love snacking on Greek yogurt in general as it’s a low calorie food that’s still quite nutrient-dense, offering a ton of protein. It’s even better in smoothies though and it definitely shines here, giving your strawberry smoothie plenty of protein to leave you feeling satisfied after drinking it. Greek yogurt is also great for your gut health, as the probiotics it contains help to maintain a proper balance in your gut flora. (2)
Last but not least, this recipe calls for one cup of milk to use as a liquid base. I generally use 2% milk in all of my smoothie recipes as I feel that it provides the perfect balance of protein and saturated fat content. Along with the Greek yogurt, using 2% milk is a great way to ensure that you’ll be feeling satisfied after drinking this smoothie.
The great thing about this recipe is that since it’s so easy to make, it’s also quite easy to tweak it a bit if you’d like to include an extra ingredient or two. For example, you can easily add a scoop of vanilla whey protein powder (I like to use a vanilla flavored whey isolate made by Optimum Nutrition — get some by clicking here) and turn this smoothie into a convenient post-workout drink. You can also optionally add a sweetener like honey to improve the taste if you’d like. There are all kinds of possibilities so feel free to experiment — you never know when you’ll stumble upon your new favorite smoothie!
