The recipe that I’m going to be sharing today makes a fantastic orange detox smoothie that literally helps to melt stress away. Every time I make this smoothie I honestly feel completely relaxed and refreshed, and it’s all thanks to the incredible combination of healthy ingredients that go into making it. Each and every ingredient that goes into making this recipe has proven health benefits. They will either help your body perform its natural detoxification processes or just provide an overall boost to your immune system to help keep you strong and healthy. Most importantly of all, this orange detox smoothie tastes absolutely delicious, meaning it’s one healthy drink you won’t mind coming back to again and again.
Melt Stress Away With This Nourishing Smoothie
The liquid base of this smoothie consists of using one cup of unsweetened almond milk. I love using almond milk when making my smoothies because it’s a great low carb source of vitamins and minerals that also provides some proven benefits for your heart health. Beyond just providing some great benefits for your cardiovascular system, studies have also found that almonds increase brain acetylcholine levels and improve memory. (1) With that in mind, almond milk is a great ingredient to use in detox smoothie to help with mental clarity when attempting to cleanse your system.
You’ll be adding ½ cup of frozen cranberries into the mix as well. While they’re not exactly the most common smoothie ingredient, they’re still a great nutrient-dense option that provides a solid amount of vitamin C along with other essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They also have proven health benefits, primarily when it comes to the urinary tract and helping to prevent heart disease. (2) Cranberries aren’t the only excellent source of vitamin C included in this recipe either — you’ll also be adding both frozen pineapple chunks along with one medium sized orange. All three of these ingredients provide a megadose of vitamin C to give your immune system a boost.
The recipe also calls for ¼ cup of chopped avocado which helps to make this smoothie a more filling drink thanks to the high fiber and monounsaturated fat content. Avocados are actually one of the major dietary sources of disease-fighting antioxidants that have been found to play an important role in helping to prevent certain types of neurodegenerative diseases, making them yet another fantastic ingredient to use when making detox smoothies. (3)
Adding two tablespoons of hemp seeds into the smoothie is another great way to up the quality fat content, as they’re an excellent source of heart healthy fatty acids. They’re also rich in vitamin E, another potent antioxidant that helps to protect your cells against oxidative stress. (4) You’ll also want to add one or two fresh dates to give the smoothie a sweeter overall flavor (while also adding even more antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits to it). Then it’s a simple matter of adding some ice, blending until smooth, and watching your stress melt away after drinking this fantastic detox smoothie.
