Slimming Orange Wakeup Smoothie for a Fresh Start to Your Day

By Emma

I’ve always been a big fan of making my own freshly squeezed orange juice from home with a juicing machine. Lately I’ve been experimenting with adding my fresh juice into my smoothie recipes with great results. Today I’ll be sharing one such recipe — a slimming orange wake up smoothie that’s a wonderfully fresh way to start your day. It’s fantastic for helping you to slim down for the upcoming summer months, and it’s super healthy to boot. I’ve been making it early in the mornings quite often recently because it’s such a great way to start the day. The smoothie is made with freshly squeezed orange juice, strawberries, a banana, and other great healthy ingredients — slimming down has never tasted so good!

Freshly Squeezed Juice Is Better Juice

When it comes to orange juice, I definitely prefer to make my own instead of getting it from a carton (especially when it’s made from concentrate — yuck). I’ve been making my own freshly squeezed juice from home for a while now, since it can get pretty pricey buying it from the grocery store. For making my juice, I use a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice extractor because it’s simple to use and cleaning it is quick and easy. You can get one for yourself by clicking here. It’s not just handy for making fresh orange juice — it’s great for juicing a wide variety of fruits and veggies. Regularly making fresh juice along with healthy smoothies is a great way to give your health a nice boost.

Along with the orange juice, this recipe also includes both frozen strawberries and a frozen sliced nanana. Some of you may be scratching your head at the fact we’re including so many fruit options in a smoothie recipe that’s supposed to help you slim down. After all, fruits are known to have quite a high sugar content, which contributes to obesity, right? Not quite. It’s quite interesting that the natural types of sugar found in fruits actually have the opposite effect and help people to keep weight off. (1) Not only that, but strawberries and banana both add a ton of essential nutrients to this recipe, such as vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants.

Another ingredient used in this recipe to help you keep those unwanted pounds off is ¼ cup of rolled oats. They’re incredibly high in fiber which helps to leave you feeling more full and satisfied after drinking this smoothie. (2) You definitely won’t be feeling hungry after making this recipe, which may help to prevent snacking or binge eating later on in the day. Rolled oats also provide even more protein, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to this recipe.

You’ll also be adding in ½ cup of plain yogurt when making this smoothie. The yogurt provides a solid mix of B-complex vitamins, calcium, zinc, gut healthy probiotics, and protein. Some studies have even found that regular yogurt consumption has been linked with healthy and active aging, which is yet another great reason to use it when making smoothies. (3) Finally, you’ll also need to add in a single tablespoon of honey (you can adjust the amount according to your preferences). Honey is one my all time favorite natural sweetening options, and it works perfectly with this recipe to give it a nice and sweet finishing touch.
