Fresh and Easy Orange Smoothie (Tasty and Healthy Treat)
I usually do my best to steer my kids away from unhealthy snack choices like chips and cookies. Instead, I encourage them to eat healthier options like fruits, veggies, and even nuts like almonds or walnuts. Thankfully, they’ve grown to really enjoy drinking healthy smoothies. That’s great for me because they’re a quick and easy way to whip up a healthy treat. This fresh and easy orange smoothie recipe is a great example of that, as it provides a ton of nutrients in an incredibly tasty package. My kids absolutely love this recipe because of how great it tastes, and I’m sure your kids will love it too!
So Fresh and So Easy — and Full of Vitamin C!
You can rest assured that if you make this smoothie recipe for your kids, you’ll be giving them plenty of the essential nutrients that they need to grow up strong and healthy. This recipe offers a ton of vitamin C as you’ll be starting things off by adding two small oranges and six ounces of no sugar added, 100% pure frozen orange juice. I’d recommend using the frozen juice option if you just want to make this smoothie as quickly as possible — but if you don’t mind a few extra steps, it’s even better when made with your own freshly squeezed orange juice. I use a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor whenever I juice my fruits and veggies, and it’s definitely an easy product to recommend. It’s super easy to use and even easier to clean (always the worst part of making fresh juice) — you can get one for yourself by clicking here.
Along with the orange ingredients, you’ll also need to add in one cup of frozen ripe peaches. I absolutely love the taste of peaches in general, so including them in this recipe was a no-brainer. Peaches are a rich source of all kinds of vitamins and minerals, including providing even more vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. In addition, both the peels and the flesh of peaches have been found to be incredibly potent sources of disease-fighting antioxidants. (1) Peaches are definitely everything that you could want from a smoothie ingredient, as they’re truly both delicious and nutritious.
Yet another ingredient that I really enjoy adding into my smoothies lately is flaxseed meal. They provide a solid amount of both dietary fiber and omega-3 fatty acids to smoothies that helps to make them more filling and satisfying to enjoy. More importantly, omega-3 fats are an essential type of healthy fat to consume. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death across the globe today. By making sure to include omega-3s as part of your diet, you help to not only lower inflammation in your body, but also reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke. (2)
