One of the reasons that the paleo diet is so incredibly popular these days is because unlike quite a few other ‘fad’ diets, it actually does provide some pretty stellar results. The paleo diet is a great eating plan when it comes to losing weight, increasing your energy, and improving your overall focus and sense of wellbeing. This fat burning paleo blueberry smoothie takes everything that’s great about the paleo diet and provides it in one easy to make drink that tastes refreshing and delicious. It’s phenomenal for helping you to lose those last few pounds because it’s so incredibly nutrient-dense and satiating thanks to the smart mix of ingredients used.

Right from the get go you’ll notice that the ingredients included in this paleo smoothie share a rather synergistic effect when it comes to burning fat. It all starts with using ¾ cup of brewed and chilled green tea for your liquid base. I’m a huge fan of green tea in general as it tastes great and it’s packed full of antioxidants. Green tea has also been found to provide some small benefits when it comes to weight loss and weight management. (1) While they only be minor benefits, they all definitely add up, especially when paired with the other great ingredients used.

One of the main reasons that the paleo diet is so effective in helping people to lose weight is because it pretty much completely eliminates all refined sugars, flours, and other junk carbs. What you’re left with are healthy carb sources that tend to be rather low in actual carb content but extremely nutrient-dense. Two great examples of this are blueberries and broccoli florets — both of which are included in this recipe. Both are low in carbs but absolutely jam packed full of vitamins, minerals, and disease-fighting antioxidants.

Speaking of low carb, one of the most effective dieting strategies for burning fat revolves around eating foods that are low carb but high in healthy fats with a moderate amount of protein. The two most popular diets that follow this approach are paleo obviously but also the ketogenic diet. (2) With that in mind, you’ll be adding not just one, not just two, but three fantastic healthy fat sources into this smoothie recipe — avocado, flaxseed meal, and cashew nuts. All of them provide a great mix of healthy fats that not only help to make this smoothie an incredibly satisfying drink to fill you up, but that also provide some great benefits for your heart, such as lowering LDL cholesterol levels. If you’ve checked out any of our other recent blueberry smoothie recipes, you might have noticed that I’m a fan of adding both honey and cinnamon into my smoothies to add a bit of sweetness and flavor. This paleo smoothie is no exception as you’ll once again be adding both ingredients. Not only do they help to improve the taste of this recipe, but they also provide some fat burning benefits. Cinnamon in particular has been found to be beneficial for helping to prevent metabolic syndrome and obesity. (4) The only other thing that you’ll need to complete this recipe is a bit of ice so add ½ to one cup in before blending. If you make this paleo smoothie a part of your daily diet you’ll be watching the pounds melt off in no time!
